How TSI engines work:
TSI petrol engines combine low capacity cylinders, turbochargers and direct injection to produce a very even development of power. Maximum torque is available at low revs, which reduces fuel consumption and noise levels.

How TGI / EcoFuel drives work:
Its bivalent concept makes this engine perfect for operation with natural gas as well as petrol.
The natural gas tanks are integrated beneath the floor to save space, so they don’t detract from the volume or usability of the car’s interior. They have been crash-tested and are easy to fill using the gas filler behind the petrol cap.

The best of both worlds.
Hybrid drives combine two types of drive: TSI engines and electric motors. When a hybrid vehicle drives with its electric motor, it produces no emissions. The electric motor produces its own electricity itself by acting as a generator when braking, which charges up its high-voltage battery. The hybrid’s benefits are especially evident in high-consumption city traffic involving lots of stopping and starting.

How hybrid technology works:
At its heart is a hybrid module consisting of an electric motor and a discoupler. This links together the TSI engine and transmission, and works in various modes: combustion engine, electric drive, boost, and recuperation. Hybrid technology consists of two different types of drive system: the full hybrid and the plug-in hybrid. The full hybrid obtains its electricity by functioning as a generator during braking to charge the high-voltage battery. The plug-in hybrid functions in the same way, the only difference being that the battery for the electric motor can also be charged via an external power source.

Many different features make them more efficient and effective: they are especially thrifty with power from their high-voltage batteries. When the car needs to slow down, they act as s brake, thereby generating electricity to recharge the batteries.
